On March, 2, 2019, the students in both the Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble traveled to Anderson High School in Anderson, IN for the Indiana Music Education Association (IMEA) Festival and Clinic. Here, the students performed for two highly recognized conductors and participated in a clinic where they received direct feedback.
Among the clinicians were Dr. Caroline Hand, Associate Director of Bands at Ball State University, and Professor Michael Colburn (ret. Colonel), retired conductor of the United States “President’s Own” Marine Band and current Director of Bands at Butler University.
The Concert Band performed Russian Sailor’s Dance by Reinhold Glière, Perthshire Majesty by Samuel R. Hazo, and Confluence by Richard Saucedo. The students in the band worked with Professor Colburn.
The Jazz Ensemble performed Yardbird Suite by Charlie Parker and Rosanna by David Paich. The students in the Jazz Ensemble worked with Dr. Hand.
